Clovers & Chicory is a blend of high quality chicory, large leaf ladino clover, Frosty Berseem clover, red clover and Fixation Balansa clover.
The chicory is a high quality, reduced bolting chicory blend. Reduced bolting equates to higher feed value. Leafiness of the chicory is impressive. It is an excellent source of digestible energy, protein and minerals. It’s deep taproot lends persistence and production in extreme heat and moisture stress. It also exhibits winter hardiness. High palatability.
The ladino clover is a large leaf variety that grows to medium height. Shows tremendous nitrogen fixing capacity, persistence and great winter hardiness. Does not lignify in hot weather like alfalfa, red clover and most other forages. This clover will thrive on soils with a pH of 5.5 or higher. High palatability and nutritive value.
The Frosty Berseem clover emerges quickly from the ground and with adequate moisture will be drawing in deer as quick as 45 days. Crude protein levels typically exceeding 20%. Frosty Berseem clover was the #1 clover for drawing in deer in recent trials at Mississippi State University.
The red clover is a quick growing crop, easily established and produces high quality forage. Clover is very persistent with an aggressive root structure, choking out most weeds.
The Fixation Balansa clover is the most cold tolerant annual clover; it can withstand temperatures down to -14º F. It can tolerate a variety of soil types, low pH, partial shade and can even grow through short periods of standing water. Has a deep tap root that aids with soil drainage and water infiltration. Typically over 25% crude protein. Highly palatable to deer. In the same Mississippi State University trials, Fixation was the #2 clover for drawing in deer.
